Our History

Torah Day School of Dallas was launched in the fall of 2002 with 135 students from nursery through eighth grade.

The steering committee found bright and pioneering administrators to lead the fledgling school. Rabbi Udman, now our Headmaster Emeritus, took leadership of the school, and Dr. Chana Ruderman oversaw the development of a dynamic and successful K-8 curriculum. The School founders secured a building on a four-acre lot on the northeast corner of Hillcrest and Frankford Road by navigating the red tape of neighborhood associations, city planning, and zoning. Working with architects and Joe Funk Construction, they turned a once 38,000 sq. ft. grocery store into a fully functional school for the 2003-2004 school year.

Today, Torah Day School’s enrollment is now over 350 students. Under the leadership of Rabbi Avi Pekier, Head of School, and AY Mernick, President of the Board, Torah Day School is poised for the next decade of growth and opportunity.
